The 1st International Symposium on Frontiers in Functional Brain Imaging (ISFFBI) was held in Beijing during October 19-20, 2013. Professor Jia-Hong Gao, Director of the CMR and a member of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Peking University, served as the Chair of the Program Committee. The McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Peking University co-sponsored this year’s symposium.

The Symposium is held annually with a dedicated theme in the field of brain functional imaging. This year, the theme of the Symposium was “Real-time functional MRI”. More than 200 scholars and graduate students attended the Symposium, and researchers from Universiteit Maastricht (Netherlands), University of New Mexico (USA), Peking University (China), University College London (UK), Laureate Institute  for Brain Research (USA) and National Institute of Health (USA) presented their major findings and latest technology development for the methods and applications of real-time functional MRI and neuro-feedback in basic brain and cognition research, as well as in clinical application.

The Symposium aims to promote advanced neuroimaging technology and its application on research of brain’s functions in China, and facilitate international scientific collaboration.
