摘要:

In social cognition, people apparently use two dimensions to evaluate other individuals and groups. First is warmth (trustworthy, friendly intentions), and second is competence (ability, assertiveness). Many theories, including the Stereotype Content Model, propose these dimensions, which account for 80% of the variance in impressions. Here, the data come from descriptive & comparative surveys, theory-testing experiments, free responses from an adversarial collaboration, and neural signatures to explore basic mechanisms.
